Tax bills were mailed directly to property owners in early October. Due date for payment is Nov 30th. City tax rate set at 4.75 per $1000 valuation; Fire House tax rate at .469 per $1000; Southgate School tax rate at 8.80 per $1000. Residential waste collection per unit remains at $124.  Penalty of 10 percent and interest at 12 percent per annum assessed against delinquent bills beginning December 1st.

The efforts to clean up Southgate plus the blight program have led City leaders to arrange for a once per month "large item" pickup for residents. The "Large Item Day" will be the first Tuesday of every month. Items for pick up will be furniture, appliances, and is limited to one or two items  Large items do not include excessive yard debris, tree limbs or construction materials. Items with freon are not accepted.
