The primary responsibilities of the Police Department are: the prevention of crime, protection of life and property, suppression of criminal activity, apprehension and prosecution of offenders, regulation of noncriminal conduct, and preservation of public peace. Safety Tips for the Holidays
It is the time of year again to give thanks for our blessings and bring tidings of joy to all. The criminals on the other hand are looking for ways to take the things we work so hard for, so I would like to remind everyone to keep valuables secure.
  • If you show a large sum of cash in a public place, someone will be thinking of how to get it from you.
  • If you leave a purse or wallet in a shopping cart, someone will be thinking of how to steal it from you.
  • We all need to be aware of who is around us to avoid being bummed out because someone stole something from us during the holidays.
  • Always keep your head up when walking to and from stores, criminals love to see folks walking, looking down and not paying attention to what is going on around them.
  • Never leave gifts, purse's, wallets or any other valuable in plain view in your car. Criminals love to see what they are about to steal. It takes more time and effort to break into a trunk or vehicle and look for the loot.
  • If you take away opportunities from the criminals you will be less of a target and you and your valuables will be safer.
  • As always if you think someone is acting suspicious do not hesitate to call and report the activity.
  • If someone steals something from you, call the police right away, don't go home and call, go to the store or any business and call right away, if you have a cell phone use it.
The police department wishes you all happy holidays.
