Campbell County Winter Travel Advisory: Level 1 Snow Emergency
Campbell County, KY (January 7, 2025) – Campbell County has downgraded to a Level 1 Snow Emergency due
to improving road conditions following recent winter weather. While the most severe hazards have subsided,
some areas may still have icy patches or residual snow, requiring drivers to remain alert for safe travel.
This downgrade reflects progress made by road crews and improving weather conditions, but drivers are
urged to remain vigilant, prioritize safety, and avoid unnecessary travel. Slippery roads and reduced visibility
may still pose risks, so proceed carefully and allow extra time for your commute.
A Level 1 Snow Emergency means roads may have icy patches or residual snow. Travel is permitted but
requires heightened vigilance. Drivers should allow extra time for their commutes and maintain safe
distances between vehicles
The City of Southgate declares a SNOW EMERGENCY starting at 6pm on Saturday, January 4. We want to give you a heads up. Once declared, all vehicles will need to be removed from designated areas according to the City Ordinance.
Why Southgate Calls a Snow Emergency:
- Safety First: Ensuring safe and clear roads for emergency services and residents.
- Better Snow Removal: Clear streets mean faster and more thorough plowing.
- Prevent Hazards: Parked cars make it dangerous for plows to navigate, especially at night.
- Reliable Data: We base our decisions on the best weather forecasts and updates from the National Weather Service.
What You Can Expect During a Snow Emergency:
- Move Vehicles Off the Street especially in streets where SNOW EMERGENCY signs are posted. This allows our plows to work efficiently without weaving between cars. Park in your driveway or if necessary at the Community Center
- Plowing Timeline: Crews work around the clock to clear roads as quickly as possible, starting with main routes then hitting side streets.
- Avoid Unnecessary Travel: Give plows space to do their job safely.
We know weather predictions don’t always play out exactly as expected, but we make these decisions with your safety in mind. Removing vehicles during a snow emergency helps our crews keep everyone moving safely.
Stay tuned for updates—we’ll keep you informed about any official announcements!
