Part of the trail at the Community Center Park will be closed during construction while SD1 works on their project.  This will start on Aug. 12.

The new playground at the Community Center Park is NOW OPEN.  There is a play center for children from the ages of 2-5 and another play center for children from the ages of 5-12.  In addition, there are new swings.  Public Works did the demo of the old playground and the site preparation.  We hope you visit and enjoy the new playground at the Community Center Park 301 W. Walnut St.

The City of Southgate received a Land and Water Conservation Fund grant to demolish the tennis courts on Electric/Evergreen Ave. and build a green space park.  In the fall of 2023 the Governor awarded the grant for the destruction of the tennis courts which were in bad shape and unsafe for use.  It was approved to turn the area into a green space park.  There will be improvements to this park in the near future.  Design plans by the Southgate Park & Tree Board are currently being worked on.
