The City of Southgate has received a grant to demolish the tennis courts on Electric/Evergreen Ave. and build a green space park.  The City applied for the Land and Water Conservation Fund grant several times in the past six years.  In the fall of 2023 the Governor awarded the grant for the destruction of the tennis courts which were in bad shape and unsafe for use.  It was approved to turn the area into a green space park.  The work has started by the City Public Works Dept.

The City of Southgate has purchased new playground equipment for the Community Center Park and will be installed by late Spring/early Summer.  This will replace the current playground equipment.   There will be a play center for children from the ages of 2-5 and another play center for children from the ages of 5-12.  Look for that to be coming soon!
