Southgate has a rich history dating back to 1907. The Southgate Community Center is a multi-function community center which is located at 301 W. Walnut St. The community center is surrounded by trees and a park. There is a baseball field, volleyball court, exercise stations, playground and walking trail around a fishing lake.
