The National Weather Service is forecasting the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms across northern Kentucky this evening and continuing into the overnight hours.
The primary hazard associated with these storms will be damaging straight-line winds. Additional threats include large hail, locally heavy rainfall, frequent cloud-to-ground lightning, and isolated power outages. While widespread flooding is not currently anticipated, localized ponding of water and brief flooding in low-lying or poor drainage areas may occur where the heaviest rainfall develops.
Thunderstorm activity is expected to develop late this afternoon and continue into the evening and overnight hours. Not every location will experience severe weather; however, any storm that becomes severe may produce damaging wind gusts, large hail, torrential rainfall, and dangerous lightning.
